I am the Director of Project Management office of US consulting company that charging $30 an hour for offshore IT development including US project manager labor.

I have been writing blog how to manage offshore developers (remote team work) for 5 years.
You may want to review it as it's #1 on google by search term Offshore Project Management. the URL is this
http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/pm-offshore/

Also when you outsource I put a break down how to structure project based outsourcing in terms of tasks, milestones, deliverable - http://solovatsoft.com/howwe.htm

Hope it helps.

Very cool - and totally agree. We are a team of 28 but have only 4 employees. We outsource pretty much everything. But not to safe cost - no - we want to get talents that would just no longer work in the old metaphor of a company. Our Database Architect is just not available as an employee and so is our UI designer or our graphics designer. They are stars that just won't work for anybody other than for themselves.

Just wonder how all the wonderful glass buildings will be used in the future? Maybe instead of 1 company with 800 employees, 800 mini companies with 1 employee?

Well, the article is actually the best on this laudable topic. I harmonize with your conclusions and will thirstily look forward to your forthcoming updates. Saying thanks will not just be adequate, for the extraordinary lucidity in your writing. I will right away grab your rss feed to stay abreast of any updates. Gratifying work and much success in your business dealings!
