How to Use Foursquare to Promote Your Business
Foursquare is one of the hottest mobile applications on the market right now. Have you ever thought of using foursquare to help promote your business? Are you taking advantage of foursquare fully to engage with the increasing number of mobile users? First and foremost, if you are an owner of a restaurant, hotel, bar or store, you may want to first claim your venue on foursquare (or add your venue to it).
Once you claim your venue on foursquare, you can use foursquare to market your business. Foursquare calls it “Specials”, but really it’s different behavioral promotions. Mayor Promotions This promotion will be offered to the Mayor of your venue only. What is a Mayor? A single most loyal customer who come to your venue ALL the time. See Yogurtland below: They are giving their Mayor $1 off discount everyday! Check-in Promotions This promotion will only be offered when a customer self identify himself or herself using Foursquare. See Red Robin Gourmet Burgers below: They offer FREE FOOD when people are answering their call.
This promotions will only be offered after special numbers of check-ins. See La Val’s Pizza below: They offer FREE Salad Bar and soda on the 10th visit.
This kind of promotions will only be offered when your staff has verified a specific person. See Starbucks below: The customer can show the Starbucks staff her special badge to earn a free cup of Latte. See The Boudin Bakery below. They created a 10% OFF offer for every order when a customer check-in. In addition to that, they offer the Mayor a 2-for-1 special. Bordin Bakery has successful used foursquare to let their customers know what is new going on today, and stimulate them to check-in to their store more often.
May be you can also use foursquare to drive more engagement with your mobile customers? P.S. Join us at the 3rd Annual BizTechDay 2010 San Francisco conference on October 23rd.
