With great power also come great responsibilities.
As a BizTechDay curator, there are certain responsibilities you must fulfill. Here they are:
Pre-event
- Selecting and contacting speakers
- Selecting and contacting location sponsors
- Inviting guests: Early on, you’ll need to decide who your event is for: Specific Industries? Specific Genders? This decision will help guide all the decisions that follow.
- Choosing a venue: The environment you choose for your event will both set its tone and dictate its complexity. An ideal setting for BizTech event is 2000-3000 sq foot regular room where all attendees can see each other and interact
- Soliciting sponsorship (if needed): If you have local sponsorship contacts, request permission and standard sponsorship package from BizTech HQ.
- Social Media: 1) Creating a Facebook event website 2) Register a Twitter account in the name of your event.
- Clearly communicating expectations: To be clear to your potential guests, speakers, sponsors and support staff about what is expected of them, and what they should expect at your event.
During the Event
- Welcome the community to your venue in your introduction speech
- Connect entrepreneurs and facilitate conversations
- Enforcing the clock to keep the event running on time
- Filming live talks so they can be shared later through social media and the website
- Treating attendees, sponsors, partners and volunteer staff with respect
- Publicly recognizing and say ‘Thank you’ to your sponsors, partners and volunteer staff
Post-Event
- Sharing photos: Upload photos taken at your event to BizTech’s Facebook Page.
- Sharing videos: Upload video recorded at your event to BizTech’s channel on YouTube.
- Sending thank you notes to your volunteer team members, partners, sponsors and speakers.
